Project: IRIS Head-Mounted Display/VR Headset
Brand: iON360
Objective: Design an ergonomic, sleek head-mounted display/VR headset to enhance the virtual reality experience, aligning with iON360's brand values and technological aspirations.
Responsibilities: As Head of Design, led the concept design phase, focusing on the product's aesthetics, functionality, and user experience, overseeing the project from initial sketches to the final concept.
Strategy: Developed a design strategy that emphasized ergonomic comfort without compromising on a sleek, modern aesthetic, aiming to position iON360 as a forward-thinking brand in the VR market.
Design Process: Directed the conceptual design process, from ideation and sketching to 3D modeling and prototyping, ensuring the product was both user-friendly and visually appealing.
Execution: Managed a team of designers and collaborated closely with engineers to create a product design that was feasible for production, met ergonomic standards, and adhered to iON360's brand identity.
Outcome: Although the IRIS headset did not move to production, the designs, and conceptual work significantly contributed to opening new business opportunities for iON360 and highlighted the brand's commitment to innovation and quality in the tech industry.
Challenges and Solutions: Faced challenges in balancing advanced technological features with ergonomic design requirements. Addressed these through iterative design processes and close collaboration with engineering teams to refine the product's form and function.
Personal Reflection: The project enhanced my expertise in designing cutting-edge wearable technology and strengthened my ability to lead a design concept from inception to a well-received final model, despite the challenges of bringing a new product category to the market.
